Geneva
Geneva’s vineyards combine traditional Gamay and Chasselas with a diverse range of newer and international varieties near the city.
The wine region spreads through countryside close to Geneva, with Satigny an important centre. Gamay and Chasselas remain traditional reference grapes, while Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Gamaret and Garanoir broaden the range. The lake, rivers and nearby mountains contribute to differences between vineyard locations.
This is a useful Swiss region for comparing familiar varieties with local crosses. A Gamay and a Gamaret from the same grower make an informative pair, while Chasselas and Chardonnay reveal the white-wine range. Read the smaller origin where available instead of assuming proximity to the city means one uniform vineyard environment.
