Vaud
Vaud is a western Swiss wine region especially associated with Chasselas and place-led white wines around Lake Geneva.
Chasselas is the region’s principal point of reference, often presented under a village or vineyard name rather than with the grape emphasised. La Côte, Lavaux and Chablais are important districts, while vineyards also extend towards Lake Neuchâtel. The canton therefore covers more than the celebrated Lavaux terraces.
Compare place names such as Féchy, Yvorne or Dézaley to explore the white-wine tradition. Pinot Noir and Gamay provide important red alternatives. The strong emphasis on origin makes it useful to learn a few district and village names alongside the grape, rather than expecting every label to lead with Chasselas.
