Campania

Wine regionItaly

Campania is a southern Italian wine region with a strong identity built around Aglianico reds and the white grapes Fiano, Greco and Falanghina.

Its leading protected origins include Taurasi and Aglianico del Taburno for reds, alongside Fiano di Avellino and Greco di Tufo for whites. These are distinct denominations, each with its own production rules. Fiano di Avellino, for example, is tied to a defined area in the province of Avellino.

Campania offers a useful reminder that southern Italy has substantial white-wine diversity. Compare Fiano, Greco and Falanghina rather than treating them as substitutes. For reds, Aglianico-based wines offer a different reference point from lighter local varieties such as Piedirosso, with the precise origin and producer shaping the finished style.
