Korčula

Wine islandCroatia

Korčula is a Dalmatian island with a particularly strong white-wine identity, centred on Pošip, Grk and Rukatac.

Pošip and Rukatac are associated with the central island vineyards around Čara and Smokvica. Grk has its best-known home around Lumbarda in the east. These local connections make the island especially rewarding to explore by grape and village rather than as a single undifferentiated origin.

A Pošip and a Grk provide a focused introduction to Korčula’s white-wine range. Rukatac, also known as Maraština, adds another traditional reference. Producers may make several grapes and styles, so the island name alone does not establish the variety, sweetness or maturation approach of a particular bottle.
