Maipú
Geographical IndicationArgentina
Maipú is one of Mendoza’s historic wine areas, with long-established cellars and vineyards that extend beyond Malbec.
Maipú sits close to Mendoza city and forms part of the province’s established wine heartland. Its older wineries illustrate the history of Argentine wine, but the area also contains newer projects and a wider range of grapes. Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah are useful alternatives to the familiar Malbec.
The location of a winery is not necessarily the origin of every grape it uses. Several houses based in Maipú also source from the Uco Valley or other districts. Read the origin on the particular bottle, rather than assuming that a winery’s address describes all the wines in its range.
