Kamptal
DAC wine regionAustria
Kamptal is the Lower Austrian region around the Kamp river and Langenlois, known for Grüner Veltliner and Riesling.
Kamptal takes its name from the Kamp river, with Langenlois its principal wine town. The landscape combines loess-covered terraces with rockier hillsides. Heiligenstein is a particularly recognisable vineyard name, where old sandstone and conglomerate support a strong local tradition of Riesling.
The two leading white varieties offer different ways to explore the region. Grüner Veltliner often appears from deeper loess soils, while Riesling is prominent on rockier sites. The DAC name indicates origin and permitted style, but a village or vineyard name gives a more precise location within the broader regional picture.
